      We take announcements from the organisers and local media, with the source. When a date has not been published yet, we say so. Items whose date has passed disappear by themselves.

      The year

      Fifteen regular events, in the order they come. For each one we say what happens and where, what we know from recent years and where we know it from. We copy edition numbers from the sources and never work them out ourselves.

        Swim for the Holy Cross and Pihtijada

        19 January, Epiphany

        At Epiphany (Theophany) the bravest swim for the Holy Cross on the town lake, and the swim comes with a contest in making aspic (pihtije).

      2. February

        Days of Hristifor Crnilović

        around 8 February

        A three-day programme around 8 February, the day in 1886 when Hristifor Crnilović Kica was born in Vlasotince.

      3. March

        March on Morič

        last weekend in March

        A mountain hike on the last weekend in March, starting from Trg oslobođenja early in the morning.

        Easter Joys

        April

      5. May

        Days of Vlasotince and the town patron-saint day

        2026: 18-22 May, patron-saint day 22 May

        The town patron-saint day is the Translation of the Relics of Saint Nicholas, 22 May, and around it the Cultural Centre holds the Days of Vlasotince.

      6. June

        Summer in Vlasotince

        2026: 29 June to 29 July

        A four-week Cultural Centre event in July, at seven places in town.

      7. July

        Vlasina Fest

        2026: 10-12 July

        A three-day festival on the bank of the Vlasina, by the town bathing area: it officially opens the bathing season.

      8. July

        Pivski 1989, punk music festival in Ladovica

        2026: 17-18 July

        A punk music festival in Ladovica, which Udruženje Stara škola has now been organising for the nineteenth year.

      9. August

        Wine Ball

        2026: 21-22 August

        A celebration in honour of wine. The first ball was held on 13 July 1960, and the fortieth on 21 and 22 August 2026.

      10. September

        BMW Balkan Rally

        early September

        Ukusi juga

        weekend around 27 September

        A festival of home-made food and drink from the south of Serbia, traditionally on the weekend before or around 27 September.

      12. October

        Vlasotince Municipality Day

        10 October

        The day of the liberation of Vlasotince, when the October Awards are presented.

      13. October

        Art Salon

        in October

        A traditional exhibition of artists from the Municipality of Vlasotince, in October, in the Cultural Centre Gallery on Nešić Embankment. The date for 2026 has not been published. Source: Cultural Centre: Art Salon

      14. November

        Poetry Hour

        second week of November

        “Učiteljstvu u čast” (In honour of teachers), in memory of Danica Tasić-Gorunović: a two-day Cultural Centre event in the second week of November.

      15. December

        New Year Bazaar

        last week of December

        A charity bazaar on the square and in the park in front of the municipality, in the last week of December.

      How we keep the calendar

      We consider a date confirmed once the organiser, the Municipality, the Cultural Centre or the Tourist Organisation has published it. If only a local media outlet has published it, the announcement says so.

      We copy the edition numbers of events from the sources and never work them out ourselves. We do not carry a date over from last year to the next: when the new date has not been published, it says “date to be announced”.

      There is no politics in the calendar and no municipal announcements. Every item comes with its source, so that anyone can check it.
